Reminder from Penn Waste – Medical Waste Disposal

A MESSAGE FROM PENN WASTE:
In 2016, Penn Waste received over 500 pounds of medical waste at our recycling facility! This is a public safety hazard for our team members who manually sort through the recycling and are at risk of getting stuck by a needle.

How Can You Help?

Medical waste needs to be properly disposed of in the TRASH, not the RECYCLING.

If a person does not have a sharps container to dispose of their medical waste, they should do the following:

  1. Place their medical waste in a thick container that has a lid – such as a coffee can or detergent bottle.
  2. Make sure the lid is secure on the container by duct taping it shut and place it in the TRASH.

Please help us keep our team members safe!
