PennDOT plans rehab of bridge carrying 230 over Swatara Creek
In addition to new pipes under state Route 230, and a new surface on top, the road many also know as the Harrisburg Pike will get a revamped bridge over the Swatara Creek in a PennDOT project set to go to bid in August.
The 316-foot steel girder structure connects Middletown and Londonderry Township. A PennDOT spokesman says plans call for a contract for the work to be awarded in late August or early September, with hopes of work getting under way shortly thereafter.
The rehabilitation project will include a new, wider deck on the bridge. The project is scheduled for summer 2016 completion.
